United Oil & Gas plc has completed stage I surface geochemical exploration across 1,189km on the seabed within the Walton-Morant licence, offshore Jamaica.

LOCATIONS

The programme comprised the multibeam echosounder survey to acquire high quality seabed bathymetry data.

The information will inform the selection of locations for stage II heat-flow and stage III piston core sampling.

United said that operator TDI Brooks International returned the R/V Gyre vessel to Kingston for equipment reconfiguration, which has since departed to restart offshore operations.

The exploration programme aims to provide “independent, basin-scale evidence of active hydrocarbon systems”, as well as support commercial discussions over the 22,400km2 licence.
