United Oil & Gas plc has started staged seabed geochemcial exploration and surveys on its 22,400 km2 Walton Morant licence, offshore Jamaica.

RESULTS

The programme aims to confirm the presence of a working offshore petroleum system and help derisk the project.

Operations using the multibeam echosounder (MBES) for high-resolution seabed mapping to refine targets, will be followed by heat flow measurements and piston coring.

Geochemical results from piston coring are expected approximately one month after the survey’s completion.

Operator TDI Brooks International is using the R/V Gyre vessel and expects to complete the work by mid-February.
