Sunda Energy lc has been awarded an environmental licence to drill the Chuditch-2 gas appraisal well, on the TL-SO-19-16 production sharing contract, offshore Timor-Leste.

The company said that the licence, awarded on 9 March, was valid until 9 March 2028.
The licence is also subject to conditions, which include submission of a waste management plan before operations begin and a post-drilling environmental survey.
“Award of the environmental licence for Chuditch-2 is a major milestone in our drilling preparations, and the fruit of considerable survey works, studies, reviews and planning,” added chief executive officer Dr Andy Butler.
Drilling and testing of the Chuditch-2 well is scheduled to begin during the first half of this year.
Operations are targeting a predicted 149-metre gas column, which is considerably greater than the 30m gas column at Chuditch-1.
Through its local wholly owned subsidiary, Sunda holds a 60% working interest in the PSC, which has a total resource potential of 3.3 trillion cubic feet.
