Petrel appoints John Teeling as chairman

Petrel Resources plc has appointed John Teeling as non-executive chairman and James Finn as board executive director, both with immediate effect.

The appointments follow the death last month of former chairman David Horgan.

Mr Finn, who holds holds 13,618,718 ordinary shares in Petrel, is also a director or partner in 42 other companies including Arkle Resources plc Botswana Diamonds, Clontarf Energy plc and Greenore Gold plc.

Petrel holds two oil licences in the Porcupine Basin, offshore west Ireland, with Woodside Energy owning an 85% operating interest, and a 30% interest in the Tano 2A block, offshore Ghana.

Having had a presence in Iraq since 1997, Petrel holds an interest in Western Desert Block 6 and the Merjan oil field.

The company states it is also “pursuing direct negotiations for small fields”.
