GreenRoc plans bulk sampling at Amtisoq

GreenRoc Strategic Materials plc aims to collect a 15 to 20 tonne bulk sample during an approved summer field programme at its Amitsoq graphite project in southern Greenland.

Hopeful: an exploitation licence by year end (generic)

Local firm HK Transport in Qaqortoq, will collect the sample underground from the Lower Graphite Layer ore body in the historical mine workings.

The work is anticipated to complete by the end of September or early October 2025.

GreenRoc will use the bulk sample to obtain information about rock mechanics and characteristics to develop the ore processing flow.

The sample will also provide ore for processing into graphite concentrate in the company’s planned graphite anode materials pilot plant.

Additional fieldwork this month includes sampling from key sites of known graphite mineralisation outside the Amitsoq area.

The company will also investigate the potential for other critical raw materials.

Baseline studies will progress during August for the environmental impact assessment.

GreenRoc’s application process for an exploitation licence for Amitsoq has also progressed with conclusion of the 35-day public consultation on 27 June.

The company will now write the White Paper ahead of the final submission of a White Book and revised project description to present to the Greenland Government.

Chief executive officer Stefan Bernstein added that the summer campaign would provide “a lot of important data and a lot of graphite ore from Amitsoq.”

“It is important to secure a substantial amount of ore from Amitsoq, as it will take time to process that into graphite concentrate and we want to have the material ready by the time we are ready with our planned pilot processing plant.

“We remain hopeful the exploitation licence can be granted before the end of this year.”
