West Newton-A plans refused for six further wells

The West Newton joint venture (JV) has today had its plans for six more wells refused by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Application: planning officers had recommended approval for the proposed expansion at West Newton (Union Jack Oil)

RECOMMENDATION

The partners had hoped to treble the site from two existing wells, WN-A and WN-A2, to drill and produce oil over a period of 25 years.

A public consultation was held earlier this year and, in their report, a planning officers recommended the proposal be approved.

The plans have been opposed by local residents, parish councils and campaigners.

The JV for PEDL183 comprises operator Rathlin Energy (UK) Ltd (66.67%), Reabold Resources plc (59% share in Rathlin and a 16.665% licence share) and Union Jack Oil plc (16.665%).
