United Oil & Gas plc has been granted a beach licence to allow seabed sampling within its 22,400km2 Walton Morant Basin, offshore southern Jamaica.

The continuous licence, which renews each year on 1 April, gives the company permission to carry out piston core survey in the foreshore and seabed areas.
Geochemical analysis of collected seabed samples will assess the potential for hydrocarbons and further de-risk the licence.
“The granting of the beach licence marks another important step forward in our efforts to unlock the potential of the Walton Morant Basin,” said chief executive Brian Larkin.
“With parties engaged in the data room, this progress helps make the asset even more attractive to potential farm-in partners.”
United estimates that Walton Morant contains more than seven billion barrels mean/mid case recoverable unrisked prospective resources.
