United Oil & Gas plc is awaiting results from its completed seabed geochemical exploration programme on the Walton-Morant licence, offshore Jamaica.
RESULTS
Following the multibeam echosounder survey and acquisition of heat flow probe data, seabed sediment was recovered through piston coring on all 42 selected locations.
The piston core samples will undergo geochemical analysis at TDI-Brooks laboratories in the United States to test for “thermally derived hydrocarbons”, with initial results expected in the coming weeks.
The work aims to de-risk the project and support discussions with potential farm-out partners.
Chief executive officer Brian Larkin said that the laboratory results would be integrated into the company’s subsurface work.
“At the same time, we will continue to progress discussions with potential partners with the objective of advancing towards a potentially transformational offshore exploration drilling phase for Jamaica,” he added.
