Tungsten West appoints Phil Povey as CFO

Tungsten West plc has appointed current interim chief financial officer Phil Povey permanently to the post and as an executive director on the board, with immediate effect.

Mr Povey has more than 18 years’ international experience in mining and mining services, covering financial management, commercial strategy and operational leadership.

He has proven ability to build and scale innovative mining start-ups, drive operational excellence and cultivate community partnerships.

Mr Povey has held senior roles with industry organisations including Capital Ltd, Perenti (African Mining Services), Macmahon and Orica. 

While at Capital Ltd, he was integral in building the mining contracting division to generate more $90 million annual revenue. 

Mr Povey has also previously served as a director across multiple international operations.

He joined Tungsten West more than a year ago in a corporate development and commercial leadership role, and became interim CFO in September 2025.

Mr Povey holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and is a certified practising accountant (CPA).

Tungsten West is preparing to restart the Hemerdon tin-tungsten mine near Plympton, northeast of Plymouth in Devon.
