Neptune Energy plc announced it had been awarded silver medal status from environment, social and governance (ESG) ratings organisation, EcoVadis.

Practices: Neptune has implemented new solutions or concrete actions on environmental issues (Neptune Energy – Algeria, Touat)

PIONEERING

The ranking places Neptune in the top 25% of all 75,000 global organisations assessed by EcoVadis.

The organisation assesses companies’ policies, actions and performance disclosures in the areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

The hydrocarbon company said that EcoVadis’ report highlighted disclosure of emissions data and quantitative targets, strong environmental management practices, and comprehensive ethics policies and procedures.

Neptune quoted from the report as: “The company has implemented new solutions or concrete actions on environmental issues … these innovative practices are advanced and pioneering for the sector, and demonstrate a clear best-practice approach beyond regulatory compliance.”

EcoVadis also noted the “significant improvement Neptune made in sustainable procurement, recognising the company’s new supply chain policy which incorporates both social and environmental considerations, and assessment of suppliers in areas including human rights.”

Neptune Energy is an independent global exploration and production company with operations across Europe, North Africa and Asia Pacific.

ECOVADIS

EcoVadis was founded in 2007 by co-chief executives Pierre-François Thaler and Frédéric Trinel in Paris.

The organisation has offices in Mauritius, New York, London, Toronto, Tokyo, Barcelona, Poland, Tunisia and Melbourne.

In 2016, Partech gave funding to EcoVadis and in 2020 CVC gave the organisation €200 million.

Its website states that by 2020 the organisation had rated 75,000 companies.
