Kavango Resources plc has installed and started operating its processing plant, designed to take 50 tonnes per day, at its Hillside gold project in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe.

Commissioning began on 1 July 2026, using feed material that included stockpiled and freshly milled gold-bearing sands, and reached 69% capacity between 18 and 28 July.
The company will now begin blending run-of-mine ore into the process feed.
The site’s historic underground Bill’s Luck mine hosts a JORC-compliant mineral resource of 33,900 ounces of gold at 2.68 grammes per tonne, with expected recovery of 90 to 93% based on metallurgical test work.
Kavango’s fully equipped on-site laboratory at Hillside is capable of bottle roll and fire assays and has an atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS), which detects and assesses the concentration of metal.
The company said that the processing plant was the first phase of development at Hillside before further progress and expansion, ahead of commercial operations.
Chairman Donald McAlister added: “Our immediate priority is to commission the plant safely and methodically, optimising plant performance and establishing stable processing operations.
“The knowledge gained during this phase will support our plans to expand processing capacity and accelerate production growth across the Hillside gold project.
“We look forward to ramping up production at Hillside and further advancing our wider portfolio, including evaluating the strategic opportunities available at Nara [gold project].”
