Guardian Metal Resources plc has completed its purchase of further claims at its Tempiute tungsten mine and mill site in south-central Nevada, around 250 miles southeast of its Pilot Mountain tungsten project.

The company had previously identified “multiple zones” of exposed tungsten mineralisation next to its existing holding.
The new land comprises 18 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) unpatented lode mining claims, which include the historical Schofield open pit mine, one BLM placer claim, and three BLM mill site claims.
Guardian said that there was potential to define “near-surface resources” at Schofield which underwent only small-scale mining in the past.
In the late 1970s Union Carbide Corporation confirmed “further mineralisation” beneath the mine.
The extension also covers “additional mineralised exposure” around the North Stock whose eastern edge contains “high grade tungsten-bearing skarn mineralisation” based on recent exploration.
The company has started sampling on the new claims and is on course to begin a “robust” exploration and inaugural drilling programme at Tempiute, with a drill rig secured.
An extensive geological mapping programme is due to start over the North Stock and a further campaign on the newly acquired ground at the South Thumb skarn area.
Geochemical sampling has already started at both sites while “multiple geophysical programmes” will also soon begin.
“The acquisition of these sub surface rights is another very positive step towards unlocking the full potential of the Tempiute district,” said chief executive officer Oliver Friesen.
“Guardian Metal will be pushing this exciting project forward in parallel with Pilot Mountain, towards our ultimate goal of providing the United States with a domestically mined source of tungsten.”
