ASSESSMENTS

The Government of Greenland awarded the 30-year permit for graphite at Piiaaffik Amitsoq, the placename for the deposit.

The company’s local subsidiary, Greenland Graphite a/s, is currently preparing project descriptions for the environmental impact assessment and social impact assessment.

Following government approval, the company will have until 31 December 2028 to submit a mining and decommissioning plan.

GreenRoc said it had decided against submitting the EIA and SIA for public approval.

An impact benefit agreement and mine- and closure plan also need approval before construction and mining activities may begin, which must be by 31 December 2030.

FUNDS

GreenRoc has also drawn down €848,175 (£740,000) of the €5.2 million loan funding secured in October 2025 from the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark.

The funds will cover, among other work, collection of bulk sample from Amitsoq, gap analysis for a prefeasibility study and preparations for phase III drilling in 2026.

The money will also go towards preparing the active anode materials pilot plant.
