First Class Metals plc has started a planned 1,000 metre drilling campaign on the 10km Roy structure at the Sunbeam gold property in Ontario, Canada.

Operator Forage PL is drilling the first hole SUN-26-01 which is a twin of historic hole SP-11-12.
First Class said that the programme could possibly include a further three holes, and for an additional 500m, to test the hypothesis of intersecting structures.
Drilling also aims to prove continuity of depth, in the area of and along strike, of the 18.8g/t gold channel sample from stripping
Roy previously underwent soil sampling programme, which indicated a “4km long robust gold anomaly” and a “potential district-scale gold bearing structure”.
Lake sediment samples also supported the structure’s potential.
First Class continues to reprocess very low frequency magnetic survey data across 3.8km, and the Light Detecting and Ranging (LiDAR) information for Sunbeam and its surroundings is also undergoing third-party interpretation.
Chief executive officer Marc J Sale added: “Roy will be used as a template to demonstrate and unlock the potential of the three district scale gold bearing structures on the Sunbeam property, each of which currently exceeds 10km and indications are that there is further strike continuity.
“The initial feedback from the LiDAR interrogation is supporting the theory of an intersecting structure(s) creating a focus for high grade gold deposition.”
A brainstorming session, preceeding the programme, was led by consultant and close colleague Chris Cooper and involved the Ontario Geological Survey, Mary Louise Hill from Lakehead University and Emerald Geological Services.
Operations will stop in early March for the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention.
