Critical Mineral intercepts gold at Agadir Melloul

Critical Mineral Resources plc posted an “extremely exciting” gold intercept in a shallow setting, and delineated further copper mineralisation, from core drilling at Agadir Melloul, in central Morocco.

Operations at Zone 2 North, which contains the rhyolite discovery, revealed an intercept of 2.5g/t gold over one metre from 5m.

Results also included near surface copper intercepts of 10m at 1.1% copper and 20 grams per ton silver and 0.12g/t gold from surface.

Zone 2 is overall significantly larger than Zone 1, where open pit mining is expected to start.

The company said it had to date drilled around one per cent of the whole project area, with further results expected in late January to early February 2026.

Chief executive officer Charlie Long added: “In the latest results, we intercepted another 10m of nicely mineralised rhyolite, adding further support for more than one mineralised system and expanding the opportunity beyond the initial model.

“There are also two copper-silver mineralised quartz veins within the project which will be mapped and drilled in due course.

“These are expected to add higher grade tonnage to the resource for blending with lower grade material.

“So our targets now include sedimentary copper in carbonates, copper mineralised rhyolite, a gold system, and the copper vein structures we have not yet drilled.

“Our strong belief is that, over time, drilling will delineate multiple zones of potentially economic shallow copper mineralisation, within broader envelopes of lower grade material.”

Critical Mineral still aims to produce a JORC mineral resource estimate during the first half of next year, followed by a feasibility study and environmental impact assessment for the processing plant.

The company remains on course to break ground on the initial mine development in 2027.
