Alba advances polymetals projects

Alba Mineral Resources plc has progressed its polymetals projects at Motzfeldt in South Greenland, Finnsbo in East Sweden and its principal Clogau gold mine asset in Wales.

Delayed: next phase of blasting due to limited available contractors (Pixabay)

DRILLING

A 300kg mini bulk sample, chosen from the 2.5 ton bulk sample from the Aries deposit at Motzfeldt, was sent to and crushed at SLR’s Wheal Jane facility in Cornwall.

Alba will next ship the crushed sample to South Africa for mineralogical and metallurgical tests.

The company meanwhile still awaits results from the hyperspectral drone survey carried out during the Summer from St Andrews University.

Possible funding programmes are also under review for the niobium-tantalum-zirconium-rare earth element project, in which Alba is acquiring a 51% interest.

At the Finnsbo copper-gold-rare earth elements earn-in in Sweden, drilling applications have been submitted and the company plans a pre-drillig site inspection this week.

Mobilisation of equipment for drilling is expected by the first half of November 2025, subject to approvals.

BLASTING

At the Clogau-St David’s gold mine in North Wales, the company continues to carry out the recommendations from the HM Mines inspector.

Work due for completion this week covers the ventilation system, ground conditions and support design, new ladderways and safety gates, new safety platforms, a new second egress, and installation of a second winch and water inflow diversion.

By the end of this month, Alba aims to complete a mine survey of the lower levels and to work further on shafts one and two.

The company has delayed the start of the next phase of blasting to the first half of November, due to limited available specialist contractors.
