Panther Metals plc could be in line for possible United States funding after joining one of the US Government’s schemes focused on procuring critical minerals for its defence sector.
The company’s volcanogenic massive sulphide exploration projects include Winston Lake gold tailings recovery, Dotted Lake and Obonga all located in Ontario, Canada.
Panther became a member of the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC), responsible for awarding funds, and aims to “actively engage” with the DIBC by submitting proposals to requests for critical minerals.
“Our ambition is significant,” said chief executive officer Darren Hazelwood.
“We believe the potential scale of our mineral assets warrants engagement at the highest levels of government and industry, particularly as North America accelerates efforts to secure long-term domestic and allied supply chains for strategically important minerals.
“We have been encouraged by the dialogue taking place over recent weeks, and this membership provides a further opportunity to translate that engagement into tangible progress.
“We are no longer simply identifying opportunities. We are positioning Panther to participate directly in the programmes designed to deliver them.
“The foundations are now in place, and our focus turns to execution.”
