Helium One notes free gas in State-9 at Galactica

Helium One Global Ltd has confirmed free gas from wirelogs after completing drilling the State-9 well at the Galactica farm-in project in Las Animas County, Colorado, USA.

Targeted: the highest quality sandstone at the top of the Upper Lyons (Pixabay)

Partner and operator Blue Star Helium drilled to a total depth of 1,225 ft (373m) with the well flowing naturally and showing good reservoir communication.

Helium One added that the well encountered 60ft (18m) gross pay of high-quality gas-saturated sands in the Upper Lyons Sandstone formation

“Significantly, no water was encountered during drilling of the Lyons Sandstone Formation and wireline logs confirmed this,” said the company.

“Based on offset wells, it is likely that the entire Upper Lyons Sandstone formation, and a significant portion of the Lower Lyons Sandstone formation will be gas saturated.

“State-9 targeted the highest quality sandstone at the top of the Upper Lyons Sandstone formation, which is connected to the entire gas column.”

Samples have been sent for analyses of helium and carbon dioxide concentrations.

Installation has started of the well head before surface pressure readings, flow testing and further gas sampling.

Following successful testing at State-9, the well is expected to be completed, ready for tie-in to production facilities.

Galactica is part of the Galactica-Pegasus development, discovered by Blue Star in 2022.
