Breedon also continues to work on acquiring assets from Mexican-owned CEMEX UK.

Breedon said that as of yesterday (30 April) it had £79m of cash and an undrawn committed facility of £222m compared with £60m and £220m respectively at 25 March 2020.

The company added that prior to 26 March it was trading broadly in line with expectations.

“We have a fundamentally robust and diversified business with traditionally strong cashflow, and remain confident in our ability to prosper in the long term.

“The pending acquisition of assets from CEMEX in the UK, which has been delayed due to the difficulties caused by Covid-19, will further strengthen our position.”

Breedon operates in Britain and Ireland and produces cement, aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete, Welsh slate and specialist concrete and clay products, as well as offering contracting services.
